Dear Room 4 Families,
Thank you to all of the generous parent volunteers that have been helping our class run smoothly! Your time is greatly appreciated. I have been calling those who had requested a conference from back to school night. If you did not recieve a voicemail from me, please e-mail me to set up a date to meet. I will be out of town on October 3, 4, (no cell phone reception/internet until 10/7 – so I apologize for any delays in answering your e-mails) and out of the classroom for SOPA testing on the 10th.

Things we did:
- Learning the vocabulary and phrases to run the calendar routine independently.
- Reading “The Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle in Mandarin so that we understand the story structure for our project next week.
- Learning the vocabulary and written words for school objects, fruits, and colors.
- Practiced our dictation words, different variations of reading aloud, writing, singing songs, searching for our vocabulary words in our text.

Announcements
- Check your child’s backpack for returned papers. Take note of anything with a check mark or an “incomplete” on it, as your child needs additional help or practice.
- Things left in the classroom/lunch boxes go to the lost and found on Friday. Please label your child’s belongings with their name and room number to facilitate their speedy return!
- Picture day is next Friday! October 4th.
Volunteers, etc.
- Weekly volunteers to run small groups (reading, math, etc.) are needed. Please contact me if you can make a weekly commitment.
- Our classroom is always in need of reams of white copy paper and tissues. If you find yourself with any extras that you do not need, they will be gladly taken off your hands 🙂
- Some zipper top (not the press and seal) snack sized plastic baggies would be useful for math manipulatives/centers/etc. in the future, if anyone has some extras.
Have a wonderful weekend!
-Ms. You
