Dinosaur Report Due Monday 1/13/14

For Winter Break, our class will be doing a dinosaur report instead of a homework packet. This handout and the dinosaur report book was handed out today and is in your child’s backpack. It is still necessary to read 20 minutes each night during Winter Break.

The dinosaur report will give your child a chance to research a dinosaur of their choice and report back facts. You should guide them to pick non-fiction dinosaur books at the library, review how to use an encyclopedia, and even monitor them while they research online. These are all tools they will use throughout their education. Please use the following as a guide if you wish:

1. Have your student pick a dinosaur they find interesting. All students know of the “T-Rex” so try to persuade them to pick a dinosaur they might not have heard of, or know much about.

2. Have them research to find out the facts and fill out the report book. Please use good sentences! There is more than enough room to write a paragraph for each section.

3. Your child can then “build” a model of this dinosaur in a number of ways. They can create a diorama using a shoe box, make a paper mache or clay figure, or even a painting or drawing of the dinosaur.

The reports and models of the dinosaurs will be displayed in the classroom, so please take your time and do your best work!
