Weekly Newsletter for 1/29/16

Dear Room 4 Families,

Your child had a packed week of learning! Today we switched seats, so your child should have a different elbow partner that they are interacting with. This week in English Language Arts, we are learning how to manage our book bags for our leveled reading time and independently transition into our next centers. Our focus has been main idea, context clues, and main idea. I have been pulling small groups to work on comprehension and vocabulary skills in leveled groups. This week and next week will be dedicated to re-assessing reading levels.

In math, we are working on place value to 1000, mental math, and addition and subtraction strategies. We will be taking a short break from mental math in order to do a unit on time.

Next week is a minimum day schedule. Monday-Thursday are all minimum days with dismissal at 1pm. Friday is a no school day due to staff development. The following Monday is also a minimum day. Please plan after school care accordingly.

Homework will be due on Thursday, and the spelling test on the following Monday.
