Weekly Newsletter for 2/4/16

Dear Room 4 Families,

We packed in a lot of learning this short week! This week in school, Room 4 students had the opportunity to have a lesson taught to them by Ms. Wendy, the student teacher from Mr. Chen’s room. She taught a Social Studies/English lesson on citizenship and how to be a positive and supportive person. This week in ELA, we have been working on learning different points of view, using dialogue, and reading with fluency (with a focus on using different voices for different characters.)

In writing, we are continuing with our opinion writing unit. Your child is learning how to structure an opinion paragraph, including a title, stating their opinion, writing 3 reasons, and restating the opinion as their concluding sentence.

In math, we have been working on Base Ten to 1000, and we have started a short unit on time. We will continue with time and go back to base ten concepts when we are finished with our unit.

There is NO SCHOOL tomorrow, Friday, February 5th. Monday, February 8th is a minimum day, and next Friday, February 12 and the following Monday, February 15th are NO SCHOOL days.
