Dear Room 4 Families,
This week we have been getting into the swing of having a regular school schedule. Your child had the opportunity to see the 6th graders present their reports at the Wax Museum and learn about famous African-Americans for Black History Month.
In ELA, we have started our reading group rotations and I am pulling small groups for individualized instruction in guided reading. We have wrapped up our opinion writing unit and have started on our next unit: Lifting the level of personal narrative. Your child is critically examining the story structure of narrative texts and will be applying this knowledge to their own writing. We will have a writing assessment on this unit the week before Spring Break.
Here are next week’s homework links:

As a friendly reminder, the opening of Art is Education: From Integration to Transformation, on Saturday, March 5th at the HAHS Hayward Museum of History and Culture (22380 Foothill Blvd., Hayward, CA 94541). Admission is free on that day from 10am-4pm. You will have the opportunity to view original artwork by Hayward Students, including 5 poetry books from our Room 4 classroom (Kevin, Alana, Miriam, Michelle, Carol). I will be at the art show from 11:30-12:30 if you would like to visit and take a picture of your child with me at the Stonebrae display.
Have a great weekend!
-Ms. You
