Weekly Newsletter for 4/15/16

Dear Room 4 Families,

It was great seeing everyone at the Showcase on Friday! Our second graders were spectacular! Thank you for helping with our fundraising efforts by making donations and purchases last night.

As the school year comes to an end, we are working hard to prepare for third grade. This week we have been working on reading strategies for non-fiction text in unit 6 for English Language Arts. We have been working on comprehension strategies in guided reading groups and reader’s workshop, as well as comparing and contrasting the school day, culture, and how they celebrate Earth Day across different countries as we prepare for Earth Day next Friday.

In math, we are working on regrouping addition and subtraction with numbers under 1,000. Please help your child identify when they should regroup and when they should not.

Our class finished presenting our Animal Habitat Projects and I have sent a picture of your child during their presentation privately in your ClassDojo messages. The assignment was returned home on Friday along with the grading rubric.

The end of the year is always an exciting time for your child as they sense that summer is near and the weather improves. Please continue reinforcing behavior as this time of the year is very busy with our best learning!

Here are next week’s homework links:

Have a great weekend!

-Ms. You
