Weekly Newsletter for 6/2/17

Dear Room 4 Families,

This week we are wrapping up assessments for our final report card. We will finish up with our assessments next week. Report cards will be distributed on the last day of school. Your child was assigned a special homework packet to be completed this weekend and returned on Monday. It is very important that your child completes their Chinese homework as we are making compliment books for each other. If your child does not complete their homework, they will have trouble getting their work done during their regular class time. This week in English Language Arts we worked on compare and contrast, main idea and details, and assessing for reading levels. Your child has been enjoying voting on our next Flat Stanley books and learning about geography and culture through his adventures. For writing, we are almost done with our all about unit and will be presenting our projects next week.

In math, we have been working on multiplication and division concepts. We took our summative math assessment this week and will finish on Monday.

Field Day is next Friday, June 9th. Your child currently has a ticket on their desk that they need to keep in order to attend by having good behavior. Students who are not invited to join in on Field day will spend the morning in another class. There will be water games for Field Day so it is advised to send your child to school with sunscreen, a water bottle, and change a clothes, including shoes.

For the last day of school plans, please check your e-mail for a message from our room parent. We are hoping to have a pizza party and any donations would be greatly appreciated. Please send your child to school with a paper bag by next Friday (June 9th) that has handles so that they can carry home all of their work and possessions from this year.
