Weekly Newsletter for 6/3/16

Dear Room 4 Families,

We are just around the corner from the end of 2nd grade! We have been very busy wrapping up our units and taking assessments.

This week in English language arts, we have been working on retelling stories and identifying important facts. In writing, we have finished with our All About Brochure and are working on negotiating how to take on roles and work cooperatively to present our animal reports to the class. We will present our reports on Monday and Tuesday depending on how long each group takes.

For math, we have been working on completing our benchmark assessment. We are working on multiplication and division concepts as well as looking closely at vocabulary for word problems.

We are done with homework for the year! The spelling lists and Mandarin homework links will be available for you to view all summer, along with all of your child’s accounts (raz-kids, front row, sumdog, spelling city, etc.) One way to review and retain Mandarin is to watch some of the videos from the YouTube list on my webpage: https://graceyou.com/mandarin-youtube-playlists/

End of the year schedule:

  • June 10th: Field Day (Please prepare to be outside! Bring proper shoes, clothing to be out in the sun, hat, sunscreen, towel, extra clothes for the water stations, etc.)
  • June 13th and 14th: Minimum day schedule
  • June 14th: Last day of school and celebration

Here is a list of summer activity ideas for your family: https://graceyou.com/summer-activity-ideas/

Thank you,

-Ms. You
