Dear Room 4 Families,
Today our class enjoyed an informative workshop with Aquarium of the Bay. We learned about global warming, the water cycle, and how our carbon output is affecting our local ecosystem and the world around us. We also learned about how we can reduce our carbon footprint by using less electricity and fossil fuels to help save our planet.
If you would like to chaperon for our field trip to CuriOdyssey on May 11th, 2017, please look for the post with the sign-up link in ClassDojo.
There will be no school next Friday, March 31st, in observance for Cesar Chavez Day. Homework and our spelling test will be moved up to Thursday.
This week in English Language Arts, we have been working on envisioning and character traits. In writing, we have been working on adding details and dialogue to our stories in our planning and rough draft phase. We will be taking a narrative writing assessment in a few weeks, so we are spending a lot of time looking at story structure and the elements of crafting a story that is interesting to the reader.
In math, we have been working on regrouping strategies for addition. We are learning how to explain our thinking using base-ten blocks, decomposing a number, using an open number line, and using the standard algorithm.
As a friendly reminder, science fair projects are due on Tuesday, April 25th to be displayed for Science Fair/Open House night. Please do not bring your project to school early, we do not have room to store all of the projects.
