Dear Room 4 Families,
I hope everyone had a great Spring Break! Our week back was so eventful. This week we have been practicing for our Mandarin Showcase performance with Room 7. Our classes are reciting the plant cycle with visuals that they have created to help explain the process. They are also singing animal songs with lyrics that they have crated in class.
This week in math, we are working on subtracting 2-digit numbers with and without regrouping and using the standard algorithm (subtracting vertically). We have been using math manipulatives to help show how a 10 can be borrowed and regrouped into ones.
This week in English Language Arts, we have been working on close reading, our literacy centers, buddy reading, and learning about Earth Day. In writing, we have been finishing up our narrative pieces and working on our spring writing assessment.
The Science Fair project is due next Tuesday and as a reminder was assigned as a mandatory homework assignment which will influence the homework and science grades on the report card. Students bring their projects to school on Tuesday and they will carry them to the multipurpose room to set up later.
Open house is next Tuesday, April 25th. Science fair starts at 5:30 and Open house starts at 6. Your family is invited to come see what we have been doing this year and see what other classrooms have been working on.
