Weekly Newsletter for 10/20/17

Dear Room 4 Families,

Thank you for the generous donations to our classroom, treasure box, and Halloween party! This week both Mr. Chen and I have been sick and so classroom behavior and the ClassDojo points given were not as consistent this past week. Please encourage your child to wash hands often and to avoid touching eyes, nose, mouth, and ears to minimize spreading germs.

This week in English Language Arts..

We have been working on identifying story structure from fiction texts (characters, setting, plot). We are building up our stamina for our independent reading and will soon be reading on the iPads and choosing books from the classroom library. Kids A-Z accounts were passed out with last week’s homework. This is an option for your child’s daily reading. The books in your child’s reading account is at their “just right” level. For writing, we are working on our personal narrative writing in Writer’s Workshop.

This week in Math..

We are working on solving tricky word problems. This includes problems with not enough information, extra information, and two-step problems.
