(Extra Minimum Day Friday, 12/22)
This Week in English Language Arts..
We have been working on asking and answering questions before, during, and after reading. We have been learning how to be an accountable partner by doing our part in having an accountable book talk when we are finished working with our books. We are also enjoying practicing our comprehension strategies with Flat Stanley. This week we started reading about his Christmas Adventure.
This Week in Writing…
We have been working on our opinion writing unit. Your child is learning to differentiate between a fact and an opinion. We are also learning how facts and specific information can strengthen their opinion. Your child is also learning that everyone has different opinions and that we are all entitled to have our own opinions and can coexist harmoniously even if we don’t like the same things.
This Week in Math…
We have been working with money. Your child has learned to identify coins, strategies for adding coins, and the difference between cents and dollar decimal form. Please help your child be successful in this unit by helping them practice identifying and counting the value of various coins. Many students are still getting nickles, dimes, and quarters confused. Also, helping them add bigger numbers will help them with adding larger amounts of coins.
This Week in Chinese…
We’re in the 2nd week of body parts. This week Mr. Chen had pushed the students really hard and most students finished the 2 main core worksheets with quality. In writing we’re finishing up the All About Me writing and will start sharing them next week. In Science we finished the forest landform and will move to the next landform next week.
