Dear Room 4 Families,
This week your child enjoyed celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday and Read Across America by reading “Oh The Places You’ll Go!” and writing about what we would like to be when we grow up. We also learned about the art style of Dr. Seuss and learned how to use watercolors to mimic his style.
This week in English Language Arts…
We also read a book by an author we have been studying called “Oliver Button is a Sissy” where we discussed how there are no gender specific activities, how we can enjoy whatever activities that we like, and also how we should be kind to each other, regardless of our hobbies. We have been learning about “oi” and “oy” diphthongs and “le” and “el” digraphs.
This week in Writing…
We are working on editing our sloppy copies for opinion writing. We also gave our opinion about what we would like to be when we grow up and giving 3 reasons why it would be the best job for us to go along with our Dr. Seuss celebration. Next we will be working on peer-editing and final drafts.
This week in Math…
We took our benchmark math test for trimester 2 and have been working on adding larger sums of money and subtraction strategies.
This week in Chinese…
- 3/9 – Trimester 2 Ends
- 3/30 – Cesar Chavez Day (No School)
- 4/2-4/6 – Spring Break (No School)
- 4/13 – Multicultural Night
Have a great weekend!
