Dear Room 4 Families,
Thank you to all of the wonderful parent chaperons that signed up to volunteer on our upcoming field trip to CuriOdyssey. In your child’s Friday Folder is a donation letter to help us meet the remaining cost for this field trip. Donations are strictly voluntary, but are greatly appreciated.
If your child hasn’t turned in their signed and empty report card envelope, please have your child bring it in to school on Monday. The report card is for you to keep. If you have any questions, please email or message us.
This Week in English Language Arts…
We have been working with the /oo/ spelling pattern. We have been continuing to practice monitoring and clarifying during our reading and have started to learn about character traits.
This week in Writing…
We have studied more short stories by Kevin Henkes and have started to plan out our beginning, middle, and end of our small moment writing. We are learning how to stretch a small moment over many sentences and are learning how to apply the story structure that we are learning to our own stories in preparation for the Spring writing task.
This Week in Math…
We have continued with subtracting larger numbers and have begun working with applying subtracting with ungrouping to money. Please help your child review their knowledge of coins by adding and subtracting different amounts of change. You can also help by having them convert equal amounts (ie. a quarter can also be two dimes and a nickle).
This Week in Chinese…
Both classes have voted for their favorite animal songs to be represented in the Mandarin showcase. I’ll announce the winners of both classes on Monday. We finished the position/posture unit this week. In Science we started the plant life cycle and will continue the next few weeks to memorize it. In writing since we didn’t have much time this week, we’re still wrapping up our opinion writing.
