Dear Room 4 Families,
Thank you to the families that have donated towards our upcoming CuriOdyssey field trip! This week we have been working hard towards getting ready for the Spring writing task which your child will take when they are back from Spring Break. There is NO SCHOOL tomorrow, 3/30 in observance of Cesar Chavez Day. Spring Break is from 4/2-4/6 and we will resume our regular school week on Monday, April 9th.
Please do not send your child to school with gum. This has been an ongoing problem lately which is distracting to our learning and creating many inconvenient messes for other students and our classroom.
This week in English Language Arts…
We have been learning and identifying homophones, character traits, using monitoring and clarification when we are reading, and analyzing story structure.
This week in Writing…
Your child has been working on their “small moment” writing. They are learning how to structure the beginning, middle, and end of their stories. We are also learning how to stretch out our small moment by including details.
This week in Math…
Your child has been working on subtracting larger numbers with and without regrouping. We used this skill to work with buying and converting money to purchase items using exact change. We discussed how subtracting with dollar decimal is similar and also different than adding and subtracting hundreds.
This week in Chinese…
Homework…
There is no assigned homework over Spring Break. Week 25 homework will be passed out the Monday we return from Spring Break and will be due at the end of the week on Friday. If you would like to get a head start, the online homework and the packet will be available for you to download on Mr. Chen’s website on Friday 4/6: https://sites.google.com/site/17to18chen/homework/week25mandarinhomework
