Weekly Newsletter for 6/8/18

Dear Room 4 Families,

Your child had a great time at field day! Thank you to the parent volunteers who were able to come help assist with setup and stations.

Next week is the last week of school. Can you believe that it’s almost over? Next week is a minimum day week with dismissal at 1pm every day. The last day of school is on Thursday, June 14th. We are planning to have an end of the year pizza party to celebrate our year together. Thank you to the parents who have donated to our party.

On Thursday, we will not be switching classes. We will be ending the year with our homeroom teacher and taking home our work from the year. Please send your child to school with a large paper/reusable bag with handles to carry all of their belongings home with. If your child will not be here on the last day of school, their report card and other belongings will be available for pick up in the office in the beginning of the next school year.

This week in English Language Arts…

We have been studying the -mb, and silent t/b spelling patterns. We have been working with synonyms and antonyms. This week we have been finishing up our reading assessments and working on several end of the year projects as we wrap up the year.

This week in Writing…

We are learning how to work efficiently in small groups to finish our all about projects. Most groups are almost finished and will have additional time to complete their final drafts on Monday and Tuesday. We will be working on reflective writing and letters next week as we prepare for 3rd grade.

This week in Math…

We finished our summative math assessment as we learned partitioning equal shares. We learned how arrays are repeated addition and how to write those sums as multiplication sentences.

This week in Chinese…

We have been working on writing compliments for our classmates for an end of the year project.
