Dear Room 4 Families,
We are currently in 2nd place for donations towards the Husky Trot and our school hit the $10,000 goal! As a reward, our whole school will celebrate with pajama day next Friday, 10/18. Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.
Our class color for the Husky Trot on 10/16 is blue. Feel free to dress in the theme color or wear your blue Huskywear if you have any. On that day, please make sure your child is wearing appropriate footwear, layers to cool off and warm up again, and a bottle of water to stay hydrated.
Also, Monday is Columbus day, however we do have school as regularly scheduled.
This Week in English Language Arts/Writing…
We are studying long ‘e’ spelling patterns (e_e, ey, ea, ee, e), focusing on our essential question in English Language Arts (How do characters face challenges?), and working on red pen editing for our writing.
This Week in Math…
We are studying different types of word problem situations such as total unknown, start unknown, and change unknown. We also learned about how to answer word problems with more than one possible answer, and studying how to label our final answer depending on category. For example, 5 balls and 3 jump ropes equals 8 toys in all. Please help your child this year by working closely on word problems and having them identify if a part or a total is missing.
This Week in Chinese…
We are studying prepositions here/there and other commonly used words for our school day/routine. We are also learning how to read our daily schedule including the vocabulary for time. Your child is learning different measure words and how they relate to the type of item (ie. a pair of socks, a pack of markers).
