Weekly Newsletter for 11/15/19

Dear Room 4 Families,

I hope everyone who was able to come out to Reading Under the Stars had a wonderful evening! This week your child has been working on completing assessments and finishing art projects as we wrap up the final week of Trimester 1. We will have MOCHA come one more time before Thanksgiving break for another art lesson. So far your child has been enjoying learning about the history and different processes to create masks and making their own blockprinting.

I will be out of town on Thursday and Friday of next week. Scholastic Book orders will be submitted on Monday, at 3pm. Your child’s books will not be delivered until after Thanksgiving break. Thank you for understanding.

This Week in English Language Arts/Writing…

We have been learning the -mk/-mb digraph spelling, working on making text connections, and getting used to our first week of fully independent reading rotations. In writing, we have continued with our non-fiction scavenger hunt as we discover, examine, and use different text features.

This Week in Math…

We have been taking our benchmark math assessment for trimester 1 and reviewing different types of word problems. We have started our next unit on regrouping ones into the tens place. Please make sure to help your child practice at home by completing the math homework using the different methods that we have learned in class.

This Week in Chinese…

Your child has been working on completing their trimester 1 Mandarin assessment. We have also been learning about clothing and using verbs and adjectives to construct sentences with the vocabulary that we have learned this year.
